Denali and Bose

Many GMC trucks and SUVs came with Bose, especially Denali and other upper trims. A Bose system has a factory amp and a specific speaker layout. Newer GMCs also tie in OnStar, chimes, settings and cameras.

That means our first job is finding out exactly what your truck has. Then we plan the upgrade so nothing you use stops working.

Yukon owners often have family in the back, so we make sure rear seats hear the music as well as the front. In a Sierra, some trims also have a rear-seat or rear-camera setup tied into the radio. We check all of that before touching anything.

Radio or no radio

On many older Sierras and Yukons, a new CarPlay receiver with a dash kit and an integration module like iDatalink Maestro is a great upgrade. On supported vehicles it keeps steering-wheel controls, OnStar, the factory camera and vehicle info.

On the newest GMCs with the large built-in screen, we keep the screen. We add a sound processor or bass processor to get a clean, full signal, then run new amps and speakers from there.

Canyon owners often want a CarPlay upgrade on an older truck. On many years that is a clean job with the right kit.

Crew cab and SUV bass

A Sierra Crew Cab has space under and behind the rear seat for a loaded enclosure. It is the cleanest way to add bass to a GMC truck. A Canyon is smaller inside, so we look at slim options. In a Yukon, there is room in the back for a real box, and we keep the third row working.

In an Acadia or Terrain, a compact setup keeps the cargo area usable.

Up front components with a three-channel amp can run the front stage and a sub. It keeps the install tidy.

Remote start makes a big difference in a dark truck parked in the sun. We install Viper and Compustar. Push-to-start GMCs need the right bypass.

GMC car audio, CarPlay and remote start: questions

Can I keep Bose and OnStar and still upgrade?

On many GMCs, yes. We use the right integration or processor for your year so the features you use keep working.

Where does a sub go in a Sierra?

In a crew cab, under or behind the rear seat in a loaded enclosure is most common. Text us your year and cab for options.

Should I replace the big screen in my newer GMC?

Usually not. We keep it and upgrade speakers, amps and subs behind it.
