What it is

Excelon short-chassis deck with wireless CarPlay, 5V preamps and 3-way network mode.

The Kenwood Excelon DMX809S is a double-DIN digital multimedia receiver with a 6.75-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto over dual-band Wi-Fi or USB. Bluetooth 5.0 handles calls and streaming, and there is an HDMI input for wired video. The Excelon sound tools include 5V preamp outputs, a 13-band graphic EQ, a 3-way network mode with tweeter, midrange and subwoofer crossovers, time alignment and FLAC playback, with 50W x 4 max built in. The main unit is about 75 mm deep, so it suits shallow dashes. Built for systems that will run outboard amps.
