Should a Santa Fe Springs Tesla owner drive to Carson for window tint?
Yes. The large curved rear glass on a Tesla has to be heat-shrunk and fitted by hand, and the frameless doors need the film trimmed so it clears the seal every time the window drops. We do this weekly. The trip is about 13.0 miles and the car is normally ready the same day.
Does ceramic window tint block the Tesla phone key or Supercharger communication?
No. Ceramic film contains no metal, so it does not interfere with the phone key, key card, cellular data or GPS. The cameras and sensors are kept clear. Everything that worked before the tint works after it, including Autopilot and the mobile app.
How long does Tesla window tint take?
Plan on most of a day, because the rear glass is shrunk and fitted as a single piece and the door glass is trimmed carefully to the seal. You are welcome to wait, but many owners drop the car in the morning and pick it up before we close at 6:00 PM.
Do you do dash camera installation on a Tesla that already has built-in cameras?
Yes, some owners want a dedicated dash camera with its own storage and parking mode, independent of the car's system. We hardwire it to a fuse tap and hide the cable. It can be done during the same tint appointment so there is only one trip.
