Montrose questions we hear
Should a Montrose Tesla owner drive an hour to Carson for window tint?
Yes, for the rear glass alone. It is one large curved piece that has to be shrunk by hand, and the frameless doors need the film trimmed so it clears the seal every time the window drops. We do this weekly. Drop the car in the morning and it is usually ready before close.
Will ceramic tint change how the Tesla cameras or Sentry Mode work?
No. We keep film clear of camera housings, and ceramic film has no metal, so the phone key, key card, GPS and cellular data all work as before. Sentry Mode, Autopilot and the app behave exactly the same after the tint.
Can I tint only the rear glass on a Model 3?
Yes. Some owners start with the rear window because it is the largest piece of glass and the biggest source of heat in the back seat. Side glass can be added later. We will show you how the shades look next to the factory tint so the car looks even.
How long is a Tesla window tint appointment?
Plan on most of a day. Shrinking the rear glass as a single piece and trimming the door glass to the seals takes time to do properly. You can wait, but most Montrose owners drop the car off and pick it up before 6:00 PM.
Do you also do dash camera installation on Teslas?
Yes. Owners who want a separate dash camera with its own storage and parking mode get it hardwired to a fuse tap with the cable hidden in the headliner, independent of the built-in cameras. It can be done during the tint appointment so there is only one drive from Montrose.
