Why do Hacienda Heights Tesla owners drive to Carson for window tint?
Because Tesla glass is harder to tint than most cars: the rear window is one large curved piece that has to be shrunk by hand, and the frameless doors need film trimmed to clear the seal. We do this every week. The drive is about 20.3 miles and the car is usually ready the same day.
Does Tesla window tint affect the cameras, sensors or phone key?
No. Ceramic film has no metal in it, so the phone key, key card, cellular connection and GPS all work as before. We keep the camera housings and sensors clear. Autopilot, Sentry Mode and the app behave the same after the tint as they did before.
Can you match the rear glass tint on a Model Y to the front doors?
Yes. We show you the shades on your car and pick a front-door film that stays inside California's 70 percent rule while blending with the darker factory rear glass. The goal is an even look from the outside and real heat rejection inside.
How long should I plan to leave a Tesla for window tint?
Most of a day. The rear glass takes time to shrink and fit as one piece, and the door glass is trimmed carefully. Many owners drop the car in the morning and pick it up before 6:00 PM; you are welcome to wait if you prefer.
Do you also do dash camera installation on a Tesla?
Yes. Some owners want a dedicated dash camera with its own storage and parking mode in addition to the built-in cameras. We hardwire it to a fuse tap, hide the cable in the headliner and keep the mount small. It can be done during the tint appointment.
