For a plate-mount camera that works with most aftermarket receivers, start with the Kenwood CMOS-230LP1; for a sharper HD picture on select Kenwood receivers, look at the Kenwood CMOS-740HDLP. • Backup Camera Guide: Kenwood Cameras and the Receivers with Camera Inputs We CarryFor most cars, the simple setup is a receiver with a camera input plus the Kenwood CMOS-230LP1, which Kenwood lists as working with most aftermarket receivers that have a camera input. For a sharper picture, the Kenwood CMOS-740HDLP shoots 1280 x 720 HD, but it connects through HD-TVI and works only with select Kenwood receivers that support HD cameras. If you also want a front or side camera, pick a receiver with more than one camera input, like the JVC KW-M875BW, Kenwood DMX958XR

Backup Cameras: questions

Will a backup camera work with my radio?

Most aftermarket receivers with a camera input work with a standard camera like the Kenwood CMOS-230LP1. The HD Kenwood CMOS-740HDLP needs a compatible Kenwood receiver. Factory screens are different and may need an interface, so we confirm what your exact vehicle and radio take.

Where does the camera mount?

The cameras here mount at the license plate, which works on most cars and trucks without drilling into the bumper. We run the cable through the vehicle to the radio in our own bay.

Can I add a camera when I get a new radio?

Yes, and it is a good time to do it, since the dash is already apart. Many CarPlay radios in our Car Stereos aisle have a camera input. The install is often the same day.

Can I check out on this page?

No. There is no cart. Hold the item or call to confirm. You pay at the counter, we install it in our own bay, and a Payment Plan is available.
