Loaded Enclosures: questions
What is a down-firing box?
The sub faces the floor, so the box can sit closer to the seat back or cargo and the cone stays protected. Examples are the Kicker 48CDF104 and the Kicker 49L7TDF122.
Do I still need an amp?
Yes. A loaded enclosure has no built-in amp, so you will need a mono amp and a wiring kit. If you want everything in one box, look at our Powered Subwoofers.
One sub or two?
Two subs move more air for more output, but take more room and more amp power. A single 10 or 12 is often plenty for a daily driver. Our Car Subwoofer Buying Guide walks through the choice.
