Guides

  • Backup Camera Guide: Kenwood Cameras and the Receivers with Camera Inputs We CarryFor most cars, the simple setup is a receiver with a camera input plus the Kenwood CMOS-230LP1, which Kenwood lists as working with most aftermarket receivers that have a camera input. For a sharper picture, the Kenwood CMOS-740HDLP shoots 1280 x 720 HD, but it connects through HD-TVI and works only with select Kenwood receivers that support HD cameras. If you also want a front or side camera, pick a receiver with more than one camera input, like the JVC KW-M875BW, Kenwood DMX958XR
  • Car Stereo Buying Guide by Budget: Bluetooth, CarPlay, Wireless and Floating ScreensFrom $100 to $250, you get a Bluetooth receiver for a single-DIN dash, like the JVC KD-X280BT and the BOSS Audio BE7ACP with wired CarPlay. From $250 to $500, you get a double-DIN touchscreen with wired CarPlay, like the Kenwood DMX4710S or Pioneer DMH-1800NEX, or wireless CarPlay, like the JVC KW-M785BW. Car Stereos: questions

Wired or wireless CarPlay: which should I get?

Wired CarPlay and Android Auto run while your phone is plugged in, so it charges as you drive. Wireless connects when you get in and suits short trips. Both work the same on screen. Our CarPlay & Android Auto Head Unit Buying Guide walks through it, or just ask us at the counter.

Will I keep my steering wheel controls?

In most vehicles, yes, with the right interface module, such as an iDatalink Maestro or a PAC RadioPRO. Some interfaces can also keep factory features like chimes or cameras. We check what your exact year, make, model and trim needs before we quote the job.

Do I need a dash kit and wiring harness?

Usually, yes. A dash kit makes the new radio sit clean in your dash, and a harness connects it without cutting factory wires. Some trucks and Jeeps have complete radio kits that include the dash parts. Use the Shop by vehicle tool or call or text us and we will confirm what your vehicle takes.

How long does a radio install take?

Installs are done in our own bay at the shop, often the same day. Timing depends on the vehicle and the parts it needs, so call or text to set it up.

Can I check out on this page?

No. There is no cart. Hold the item or call to confirm. You pay at the counter, we install it in our own bay, and a Payment Plan is available.
